Myers Park

Client: Downers Group

Location: Auckland CBD

Project Cost: $0.5M - $1M

Completion Date: Dec 2023

Auckland Council initiated the redevelopment of Myers Park to enhance the park's attractiveness, inclusivity, and the overall visitor experience. By incorporating art, indigenous elements, and sustainable design, the Myers Park redevelopment was a wonderful example of creating inclusive, climate-resilient public spaces that celebrate Auckland's rich cultural heritage.

Jagas manufactured pre-cast concrete artwork panels featuring a continuous pūhoro pattern, designed by mana whenua creative Graham Tipene. These panels were seamlessly integrated into the underpass, creating a visually striking and culturally significant enhancement to the space.

Jagas produced pre-cast concrete elements for the new enhanced staircase reconnecting Mayoral Drive and Queen Street with the park. The staircase features pātiki (flounder) patterning work developed by Tessa Harris (Ngāi Tai Ki Tāmaki).

Jagas supplied and installed high-quality paving throughout the park, providing a durable and visually appealing surface that complements the overall design aesthetic.

The successful completion of the Myers Park redevelopment project has resulted in numerous benefits for the community and the city of Auckland. Myers Park is a revitalised public space that celebrates Māori culture, provides improved amenities, and contributes to the ongoing reindigenisation of Auckland's CBD.
